Spelling Test #4        Name:______________________________

Discipline is the worst part of a teacher's job.  When students do something that is unacceptable in the classroom, like ripping a calendar from the wall, it is the teacher's job to discipline them.  Some students don't want to accept their punishment so they attempt to deny that they did anything wrong, or they start an argument.  Sometimes teachers actually get so angry that they threaten to run across the room to throw their students through the window.  Of course, that doesn't really happen.  I, for one, am not a strong enough athlete to do such a thing.

Instead of punishing students, most teachers would rather help students find acceptable ways to become accustomed to the classroom and acquire the skills they need to reach a high level of achievement.  Even though some students criticize schools for being too tough, most teachers try to accommodate individuality.  In order to make a fair judgment, teachers try to analyze each situation to find the solution that is most beneficial for the class as a whole.

Poor attendance is one reason some students get into trouble with their teachers.  It is important for students to be in class.  If students have too many absences, they have a hard time doing their work.  Even conscientious students can't be as accurate with their work if they aren't in class.
