Essay Assignment Rubric

Essay Assignment 1: Personal Narrative Essay
Relate an event that has happened to you in the last year.
Remember to "show" and not "tell."  Refer to your skills
in word choice, sentence construction, and paragraph
        structure.

Essay Assignment 2: Third Person Narrative Essay
After looking at samples of narrative essays, write
your own narrative essay.  Make sure to write it in the
third person (That means do not use "I.")  This could be
a fictional event that you make up, or it could be an
event from your own life that has had an impact on you.

Essay Assignment 3:  Descriptive Essay
After brainstorming and working with descriptive words
for the senses, write your own descriptive essay about
a Christmas experience.  You may use your narrative
writing techniques and write this as a story or as a
memoir.  Remember to be descriptive, showing the
reader the details of the scene without telling; however,
make sure not to overdo it.
